It is 10:00 p.m. in Minamiosumi-cho right now. I've been watching this typhoon build all day, and I'm a bit nervous because of all the damage that Katrina caused. The gusts are going to be up to 135 knots, which is 145 m.p.h. Katrina was around there. Right now, I'm on the outer edge of the storm. It is a little windy and rainy. I'm told that it is gonna shake the whole apartment and keep me up all night. I bought some food and water, and I have an emergency kit. I think that the typhoons don't cause as much damage as hurricanes, but I'm really not sure. Either way, I will have something interesting to write about. Everyone is sure that I'm in a good structure, but the only thing I'm worried about is my windows. I have two large slidding glass doors and no storm shutters. Most houses have shutters that are metal and look like garage doors. All the shops have them closed and sand bagged. I was told to sleep in the middle of the kitchen because there aren't any windows so flying glass will be less of a problem there.
